The conflict in Syria is entering its eighth year – 2557 days of brutal violence and heartbreak – Syrian children are being killed, maimed, displaced, denied an education, healthcare and aid, on a daily basis. The conflict is not de-escalating.
“De-escalation zones” by Russia, Turkey, and Iran have failed. What initially appeared to be a relief effort quickly turned into greater suffering and bloodshed. This briefing paper highlights a new analysis of the failure of the “de-escalation zones” and other international relief efforts, and demands changes to improve the humanitarian situation for children trapped in the seven-year conflict.
