Violence and Discrimination against Women, Children, and Adolescents

The Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) has identified women, girls and adolescents as persons in a particular situation of discrimination in the region and, consequently, has prioritized its lines of work to promote and guarantee their fundamental rights. Based on this framework, the IACHR has maintained an essential role in the development of standards for the protection and defense of women, girls, and adolescents and has consistently recommended that the states adopt concrete efforts to guarantee, on the one hand, the universality of the inter-American system.
