In this article in BMC Public Health, CPC Learning Network faculty affiliate Karen Devries and others explored the prevalence, patterns and risk factors for physical, sexual and emotional violence among disabled children attending primary school in Luwero District, Uganda. Researchers performed a secondary analysis of data from the baseline survey of the Good Schools Study, which randomly sampled 3706 children and young adolescents (aged 11-14) from 42 primary schools. The researchers found that disabled girls report slightly more physical and considerably more sexual violence than non-disabled girls and that the school environment is one of the main venues in which violence is occurring.
