“Violence against Girls in Bangladesh” is a Report prepared by Organisation Mondiale Contre la Torture (OMCT), for the 34th Session of the Committee on the Rights of the Child. The submission of specific information on violence against girls to the Committee on the Rights of the Child in tandem with the submission of a global alternative report on the Rights of the Child in Bangladesh by the Organisation Mondiale Contre la Torture, forms part of the Violence Against Women Programme of OMCT, which focuses on the integration of a gender perspective into the work of the United Nations human rights treaty monitoring bodies. OMCT notes with concern that human rights violations take place on a wide scale in Bangladesh, despite the fact that the country is a signatory to several international conventions and Optional Protocols.
