Video – Born to Play. Tackling Malnutrition in Malawi

His friends might know him as Cosmas, but for most he’s just Evie’s big brother – because this is really the Evie show.

Evie loves her Shrek doll (aka “Evelin”), she’s scared of dogs, cats, hares and snakes… but what she doesn’t have to fear is malnutrition – something Cosmas had to endure in his earliest years.

With the Maziko programme in Malawi, Save the Children is helping thousands of families like Cosmas and Evie’s to give children the healthiest start to life.

The Maziko project takes a holistic approach – supporting families from pregnancy through to primary school and beyond. Working alongside government initiatives, Maziko uses peer-to-peer care groups, children’s centres, health education, WASH, and livelihoods training to build resilience.

The goal: a healthier generation of Malawian children who can reach their full potential, reduce poverty, and strengthen the entire economy
