Children suffering from abuse are in great need of protection and support from society. This is true whether or not the abuse is physical, mental, or sexual. When a child is suspected of suffering from abuse, several organizations are usually involved and the need for cooperation is great. This report focuses on the healthcare systems role and responsibility to children suffering from abuse.
Save the Children Sweden has concluded that the conditions for abused children within the healthcare system vary to an unacceptable degree between the different municipalities. This results in Sweden not fulfilling the demands of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. Save the Children presents those areas that demand improvement and the ways in which the healthcare system can better meet the needs of abused children.
