Save the Children International
The priority statement on Undernutrition outlines Save the Children’s approach to tackling undernutrition, addressing the global hunger crisis, and integrating nutrition in all that we do.
Addressing undernutrition is essential to ensuring that all children have a healthy start in life. Globally, undernutrition contributes to 45% of deaths of children under-five and compromises the long-term health and wellbeing of children and their communities. This is compounded by the implications of the global hunger crisis, where 349 million people across 79 countries are facing acute food insecurity, and an additional 50 million are teetering on the edge of famine.
Save the Children tackles undernutrition and the hunger crisis through integrated service delivery across development and humanitarian contexts, advocating for policy change and anticipatory action at global and national levels, and designing programs that address the multiple determinants of health, including the impacts of COVID-19, conflict, and climate change. We work alongside partners to create system-wide change to bring sustainable and resilient solutions to children, families, and their communities.
