The Climate‑Smart Education Systems Initiative (CSESI) brochure provides a clear overview of the initiative, a global partnership led by the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) in collaboration with Save the Children, UNESCO and IIEP‑UNESCO. The Initiative supports governments to strengthen the resilience of education systems in the face of climate change, with a focus on safeguarding access to quality learning for the most vulnerable children.
Drawing on work across 35 climate‑exposed countries and territories, the brochure outlines why education is central to climate adaptation and describes the Initiative’s seven technical components, including climate‑resilient infrastructure, school safety and continuity planning, greening curricula and teacher training, cross‑sectoral coordination, data and evidence, and access to climate finance. It also highlights practical country examples and early results.
Designed for policymakers, donors and practitioners, the brochure demonstrates how integrated, cross‑sectoral approaches can protect education systems and accelerate climate action.
