The ASEAN Environmental Rights Framework, developed by the ASEAN Environmental Rights Working Group, aligns with international norms and standards concerning the rights to a safe, clean, healthy, and sustainable environment. A Children’s Focus Group Discussion on Thematic Areas of the ASEAN Environmental Rights Framework took place on February 19, 2024, from 09:00 to 16:30, at the Prince Palace Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand. The aim was to empower children by enhancing their understanding and support for their participation and contribution to the ASEAN Environmental Rights Framework. Fourteen children, aged 11 to 18 years old (ten girls and four boys), representing eight organizations from Indonesia, the Philippines, and Thailand, actively participated in the discussion.

The inputs of the children were gathered using child-friendly methods and have been incorporated into the document. Additionally, the document highlights children’s concerns regarding the intersection of climate and rights.
