Meaningful participation of internally displaced women and girls is essential to guarantee that any interventions by governments or humanitarian actors are directly relevant and sustainable for them.

However, internally displaced women and girls face several obstacles when it comes to participating in decisions that affect their lives, including for reasons relating to gender inequality and gender-based violence.

This report aims to investigate the gender dimensions of internal displacement, identifying barriers to women’s participation as well as providing actionable recommendations to overcome them.
