Save the Children
This roadmap outlines Save the Children’s strategic direction for supporting teachers from 2025 to 2027. Teachers are at the heart of children’s learning, wellbeing and development, and are the most important in-school factor influencing outcomes, particularly in fragile and low-resourced contexts.
This roadmap is grounded in clear values around teachers that recognise teachers as essential to education systems and society, as protectors of children, and as professionals who deserve respect, voice, agency and holistic support.
Building on these values, the Teacher Theory of Change sets out how system-wide support enables teachers to become confident, motivated and effective practitioners. This leads to quality teaching and safe learning environments, so that all children can learn, thrive and reach their potential.
To deliver this, the roadmap focuses on three priority areas where Save the Children can have the greatest impact: (1) strengthening teacher professional development and competencies; (2) prioritising teacher wellbeing and motivation; and (3) strengthening school policy, leadership and culture to create enabling environments for teachers.
Together, these priorities provide a clear and focused approach to improving teaching quality and advancing children’s learning and wellbeing at scale.
