The Enabling Teachers ‘Teacher Wellbeing & Motivation Survey’ – which has evolved from the inter-agency-developed tool from the Teacher Wellbeing & Motivation Working Group – is designed to help education actors better understand teachers’ wellbeing, motivation and working conditions within their context. Teacher wellbeing is closely linked to teaching quality, retention, professional agency and student learning outcomes.
There are two versions of this tool, the long tool and short tool. The short version of the tool provides a rapid and practical way to gather teachers’ perspectives across key areas that influence wellbeing and motivation, including school culture, leadership support, safety, workload, professional recognition, access to resources and financial security. The long tool provides more opportunities to gain further insights into these core areas and beyond. The findings can be used to inform programme design, strengthen teacher support approaches, identify priority areas for action, and support advocacy and system strengthening efforts.
