Research shows that parents that interact with their children in both quality and quantity influences their children’s learning and development the most. However, living in poverty can prevent families from engaging in their children’s early learning. In the United Kingdom, there are more than 4 million children growing up in poverty. There is a learning gap between children from low-income families and children from mid-income or high-income families.
Families Connect is an evidence-based programme developed by Save the Children UK to support parents to engage in their children’s learning. This evaluation examines the Families Connect programme from 31 schools from low-income areas across the United Kingdom.
