ALNAP, Active Learning Network for Accountability and Performance in Humanitarian Action
Local civil-society efforts were found to have greater effects and much lower costs after the impact of Cyclone Nargis in Myanmar in 2008, compared to conventional direct implementation by international agencies. This case study provides information on how appropriate support for local civil-society interventions can enable fast and responsive relief at a scale commensurate with needs in a rapid-onset emergency.
