Save the Children Sweden
Save the Children Sweden (SCS) presents a report to the United Nations in response to Sweden’s fifth periodic report. With this report, the SCS examines the Swedish Government’s continuing commitment to supporting and strengthening children’s rights in cooperation with the UN’s Convention of the Rights of the Child (CRC). As in prior supplementary reports, the SCS provides the Swedish government recommendations on how to improve aspects of society and government that fail to meet CRC criteria. One of the main conclusions of this report is that levels of respect for children’s rights varies greatly across Sweden due to a decentralized system of governance with significant levels of local government authority. The effects of this can be seen in the large disparities in the support available to children in vulnerable situations depending on where they live.
