UNOCHA, United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs
In 2025, Sudan is experiencing an unprecedented humanitarian crisis, with over half the population in urgent need of assistance, including 16 million children. The ongoing conflict has led to massive displacement, severe food insecurity, and the collapse of basic services. Famine conditions are present in parts of North Darfur, and millions, especially children, are at immediate risk of starvation. The health system is in shambles, with vaccination rates plummeting and widespread disease outbreaks. Children are disproportionately affected, facing extreme risks of malnutrition, abuse, and exploitation.
The 2025 Humanitarian Needs Response Plan seeks $4.2 billion to provide lifesaving aid to nearly 21 million vulnerable people, focusing on restoring basic services and protecting children from further harm.
