The ongoing conflict in Sudan has led to a severe humanitarian crisis, with nearly 9 million people displaced since April 2023. The fighting between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has caused significant civilian harm, displacement, and destruction of infrastructure, particularly in North Darfur. Humanitarian access is severely restricted, exacerbating food insecurity and health crises. USAID has provided substantial humanitarian funding, totaling over $147 million in FY 2024, to support food security, health, nutrition, protection, and WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) initiatives. Despite these efforts, the situation remains dire, with urgent needs for continued and increased humanitarian assistance.
