Success Story: Green Jobs for Adolescents and Youth Project – Choosing Light Over Early Marriage (Malawi, 2026)

The Green Jobs for Adolescents and Youth Project is supporting vulnerable adolescents and youth (15 to 24 years) to successfully transition into adulthood and achieve sustainable economic independence.

Milca is one of the young women who have benefitted from the project’s psychosocial support and gender‑responsive dialogue. Once on the brink of early marriage due to poverty and limited options, she was reached through community gender champions and safe‑space discussions that helped her rebuild confidence, understand her rights, and envision alternative pathways. Through continuous mentorship and skills training, she abandoned the risk of early marriage and began shaping a future rooted in resilience, learning, and economic opportunity.
