Save the Children Zimbabwe
The Strengthening Community Participation in Health project, implemented by Save the Children and Community Working Group on Health between 2013 and 2016, aimed to address key barriers to uptake in maternal, newborn and child health (MNCH) services, including service charges; long distances to health facilities; and staff shortages at 166 selected rural health centres across 21 districts by applying a community capacity strengthening approach and feedback mechanism. the project created platforms at village, health centre, and district levels, to raise issues affecting MNCH service provision, and to plan and implement local, participatory solutions to these. At national level, the project advocated for an enabling environment for improved service delivery through lobbying of policymakers and influencers, and by engaging the mass media.
This end of project report documents the project targets, deliverables, process of implementation, successes, challenges and recommendations.
