Save the Children Malawi
Save the Children, through the Cummins-funded Education in Emergencies (EiE) project in Malawi, is implementing a six-month emergency education response in Chikwawa District—one of the most flood-prone districts in Southern Malawi. Over the years, communities in this area have experienced recurring floods, destroying homes, schools, and sanitation facilities. These floods not only disrupt education but also threaten the health and dignity of learners.
The aim of the EiE intervention is to support school recovery and help learners affected by past floods return to a safe and conducive learning environment. The publication contains stories that showcase interventions including the distribution of hygiene kits to learners and the roll-out of Disaster Risk Reduction trainings to support emergency preparedness in schools that face recurring disasters.
