The 2019 edition of UNICEF’s flagship report “State of the World’s Children” examines the issue of food and nutrition as it relates to children. Despite progress in the last decades, one-third of children under five worldwide are malnourished. Meanwhile, two-thirds of children are at risk of malnutrition due to poor diets. At the center of this challenge is a broken food system that does not provide children with the nutrition they need to grow up healthy.
This report takes a fresh new take on the issue of nutrition. It provides new data on malnutrition in the 2000s and outlines recommendations to put children’s rights in the heart of food systems.
