In this year’s State of the World’s Children report, UNICEF examines the cycles of deprivation that exist around us and perpetuate the deepening inequality that threatens societies everywhere. A call for action, UNICEF is convinced that a different outcome, a better world, is possible and that children born into poverty should not be doomed to live lives of despair.
The report highlights cost-effective and more effective ways to reach vulnerable children, families and communities, citing such things as technological advances, the digital revolution, and citizen-led movements.
Pulling from its vast research and experience, UNICEF presents two findings from a simulation that tested two methods for achieving maternal and child health goals. The findings are presented here and advocate for a changed approach to achieving these goals than the one currently being pursued.
