Young people and children who are victims of trafficking and sexual exploitation face heightened vulnerability to psychological stress. The professionals who work with them to deal with the psychosocial consequences of their experiences need to be given proper training in order to provide the best assistance possible.
The International Labour Organization’s International Programme on the Elimination of Child Labour (ILO-IPEC) cooperated with the Government of Nepal in 2000 to focus on bonded child labour, domestic child labour, and child trafficking. From those experiences and other past, global experiences of the ILO-IPEC, this manual was created for the social workers and counselors who help the children in rehabilitation centers in South Asia. It provides information and guidance on counseling for children and youth suffering from psychological stress.
