This report investigates the recruitment and use of children by armed groups in southern Thailand. Child Soldiers International and the Cross Cultural Foundation conducted research in nine districts in the southern provinces of Thailand between September 2013 and April 2014.
The current separatist campaign first began in January 2004 and has such entered its second decade of protracted conflict as of the beginning of 2014. This report explores the history of the conflict and, through interviews and investigative research, the current practice of recruiting children for armed conflict.
Child Soldiers International and the Cross Cultural Foundation provide recommendations for the Thai government, the armed groups, and the UN country team on how to actively prohibit and end the recruitment and use of children in armed conflict.
