The South African Child Gauge is provides an annual snap-shot of the status of South Africa’s children.
It is published by the Children’s Institute, University of Cape Town, to track South Africa’s progress towards realising children’s rights.The 2010/2011issue focuses on the theme ‘Children as citizens: Participating in social dialogue. The document is comprised of three parts . The first part discusses recent legislative developments affecting children; the second part presents nine essays defining children’s rights to participate in decision-making and describing the conditions for children’s meaningful participation in social dialogue; and Part three updates a set of key indicators on children’s socio-economic rights and provides commentary on the extent to which these rights have been realised.
