Urban resilience is defined as the ability of households to cope with external stress, and household’s ability manage the risk that comes with this stressor.
This brief was requested by Save the Children to investigate the adaptability of the rural food security measurement tool, Household Economy Approach (HEA), to urban settings. This new method was applied to Niamey, Niger, to examine the resilience of households in an urban area that experiences seasonal floodings (an external stressor). This brief covers the method, findings, and lessons learned from the study.
