Silent Burden: Exploring the link between adolescent sexual and reproductive health and perinatal mental health in low- and middle-income countries

This brief explores the literature linking perinatal mental health with adolescent sexual and reproductive health outcomes. We find that mental health conditions increase the likelihood of unintended pregnancies among adolescents and, conversely, unintended pregnancies increase the risk of adolescent perinatal mental health conditions. The brief summarizes emerging interventions to address this bi-directional risk.
