Global Health Needs: Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights

Everyone has the right to good sexual and reproductive health (SRH). Lack of SRH services seriously impacts women, men and adolescents and the realisation of their sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR). Globally, governments must do better at ensuring everyone, including women and adolescent girls, realizes their rights to SRH. This policy brief analyses the importance of sexual and reproductive health and rights as human rights, shared global goals and as essential to meeting wider targets. SRHR are vital to further gender equality, a key component of reproductive, maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health, and especially urgent for adolescents. The policy brief sheds light on the threats and barriers to sexual and reproductive health and rights, brings in examples of Save the Children’s SRHR policy and advocacy worldwide and proposes some key recommendations to governments.
