This guide provides supplemental support for teachers whose young students are from minority ethnic groups that face the challenge of learning in an unfamiliar language. It presents guidance and strategies for teachers of 3-5 year old children who speak and teach in a different language than their students. This guide is designed to help teachers to foster positive multi-lingual transitions to the language of instruction in their ECCD centers. It presents techniques to help teachers integrate new language instruction into the daily activities and routines. It also provides suggestions for adapting ECCD center settings to best support new language learners.
