Save the Children Sweden

Every five years, Sweden is reviewed by the UN Human Rights Council based on all the commitments Sweden has made in the area. The review is primarily based on the nine core human rights conventions adopted by the UN, of which Sweden has acceded to seven. In this process, states review each other.

In the process, civil society can submit information that other states can use to ask questions and make recommendations to Sweden during the process. Save the Children’s report focuses on the most important children’s rights issues in Sweden today:

  • The regression of the protection of children’s rights that we see in politics today
  • Rights for children in migration
  • Measures against crime
  • Racism and discrimination
  • Right to participation
  • Lack of complaint mechanisms
  • Rights for children in social care
  • Right to a reasonable standard of living
  • Right to education
