Information sharing and two-way communication are essential components of strengthening our accountability to children and other community members – through upholding people’s rights to information, strengthening trust between Save the Children, our partners and the communities we work with, helping to build community ownership, and encouraging feedback and participation.
This guidance is intended to support Save the Children and partners’ programme and MEAL (Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning) teams in designing information sharing and communication approaches, including the identification of what information they should be sharing with affected children and communities, how they can share this information, which formats they could use and what options exist for two-way communication.
The guidance includes a section on child-friendly information sharing and child participation in information sharing and communication, as well as tips on disability-inclusive information sharing and communication. This guidance is intended to support information sharing and communication with communities in all contexts, from development situations to humanitarian crises.
