Save the Children’s Response to 2017 Rights of the Child Resolution Statement, November 22nd, 2017

On November 21st, the Third Committee of the United Nations’ General Assembly adopted the annual resolution on the Rights of the Child. This year the focal theme was ending violence against children. We commend all Member States for their efforts to strengthen their commitments and to renew action towards the protection of children from violence worldwide.  We strongly welcome references to the elimination of violent punishment and the call to use positive forms of discipline, which is based on the principle that children learn more through co-operation and reward than through conflict and physical punishment.
