Save the Children
Hunger is an everyday reality for families in West Africa. Gradual changes in climate and escalating global food prices mean the most vulnerable are increasingly being exposed to repeated peaks of acute crisis. Save the Children has been working to prevent the developing crisis and to save lives since late 2011, when early warning signs indicated increasing food insecurity across the region. This report looks at Save the Children’s work 6 months on, across Niger, Mali, Mauritania and Burkina Faso, where more than 1,5 million people have benefited from a wide range of support that included access to food, water, medicine and other essential services.
