Save the Children
Save the Children’s Safe Schools Common Approach, implemented in 107 projects across 38 countries, aims to protect children from violence and hazards in and around schools through a holistic, all-hazards framework. This synthesis reviews its effectiveness across four core components: policy development, safety management, infrastructure, and self-protection skills.
Findings show positive impacts on children’s sense of safety and inclusive teaching practices, but highlight challenges in scalability, cost-effectiveness, and infrastructure maintenance. The report offers strategic recommendations for improving programming, policy, and evidence generation to strengthen school safety globally.
