Safe Schools Common Approach Proposal

Many children are not safe in and around school. Children’s safety is threatened by violence, natural and everyday hazards and conflict, that affect their rights to survive, learn and be protected. Safe Schools is a comprehensive approach to promote children’s right to safety in and around schools. In its development, the Child Protection and Education themes have brought together three approaches-Comprehensive School Safety, School as Zones of Peace and Violence Free Schools-into a single approach to address a wider range of hazards in and around schools.
