This report documents how both sides in the Syrian conflict have used schools for military purposes and how teachers and state security agents have interrogated and beaten students for alleged anti-government activity.
Human Rights Watch calls on all parties to the conflict to respect the laws of war, including those laws related to schools – schools should not be used for military purposes and measures should be taken by both sides to protect schools and to move students and civilians from areas of conflict whenever possible.
