Schools should be safe and happy zones of learning. Giving children an opportunity to learn at school is essential for social and emotional development, for them to progress through the education system, secure a better future for themselves, and for the welfare of their country. Unfortunately, this is not the reality for millions of children worldwide.
An analysis in this report reveals that there are approximately 15 life-threatening attacks on education in schools every day. Through this report, the Send my Friend to School coalition urges the UK government to adopt the Safe Schools Declaration and to encourage other Commonwealth states to do so too.
