Over the last decade, many Rohingya escaping violence in Myanmar have found refuge in Cox Bazaar. August 2017 saw the beginning of a large and rapid influx of refugees, including 400,000 children, fleeing across the border in response to escalating violence in their home states. As of 2019, the lives of children in the refugee camps and host communities remain challenging with limited access to education, protection, sanitation and health services.
This report analyzes publicly available information and focuses on the needs of children and youth in Cox’s Bazaar since the influx of refugees in 2017.
