This book is about the rights of children and adolescents with disabilities. It sets out to discuss the subject of disability from a child rights perspective and to develop some basic guidelines for tackling the issue in a practical way. The document is divided into five parts: Part 1 aims to shape people’s thinking on their everyday attitude towards children and adolescents with disabilities. Part 2 looks at learned stereotypes and prejudices regarding persons with disabilities. The rights of children and adolescents with disabilities are examined from a universal standpoint in part 3. Part 4 presents a proposal to introduce the issue of disability to different organisations and the development of projects and programmes. Finally, Part 5 describes some resources that can be used for follow-up actions. This report was developed in Peru and has been used as a support document at local seminars.
