The Global Campaign for Education’s report provides an action plan for closing the education gap for the world’s poorest girls and women.Throughout the last decade, significant progress has been made in increasing girls’ enrolment in primary education. However, although more girls, but far from all, now have an increased chance to access school, the challenge of true gender equality goes much deeper. The gender gap in education robs not just girls and women of their rights, but their families of income, their communities of empowered citizens and the economy of a critical human resource.
This report outlines the key areas in which, the Global Campaign for Education, believes action by the UK government could make a decisive difference on girls education.
