In 2008 Cyclone Nargis struck Myanmar, impacting heavily on the lives of children and the education sector. Children’s Education suffered either because of over-crowding in the schools that had not been destroyed, or because children did not have a school to go to. Some children were taken out of school as families could not afford to buy school materials or to pay for transportion to school. This publication, supported by Tetra Laval, offers Save the Children’s experiences in responding to children’s needs in emergency situations, and shows ways to rebuild the future in the aftermath of natural disasters.
