ADEA, Association for the Development of Education in Africa
The COVID-19 pandemic has significantly disrupted the education systems in Africa, leading to the closure of numerous higher education institutions. This interruption in learning could potentially reverse years of educational progress. However, this crisis has also sparked innovation within the higher education sector, with the development of non-traditional and distance learning options. These advancements have been made possible through the swift actions of global partners and states dedicated to maintaining educational continuity.
Despite these efforts, the level of development in distance education varies across African countries, with many still in the early stages of implementing effective distance learning strategies. In response, the Association for the Development of Education in Africa (ADEA) has created a toolkit for African Ministries of Higher Education. This resource is designed to assist in planning and improving the implementation of effective distance education.
