The report “Remarques de l’OMCT/SOS-Torture concernant l’application de la Convention relative aux droits de l’enfant par l’Indonesie” was presented by the Organisation Mondiale Contre la Torture to the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child in 1994. On 5 September 1990 the Government of the Republic of Indonesia ratified the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) through Presidential Decree No. 36/1990, reflecting its commitment toward the principle of the rights of the child. The Indonesian legislation has gradually reformed towards a comprehensive recognition of the rights of the child in accordance with the spirits and principles of the CRC, although impediments are found at the legislation and practical application levels.
