This document presents and highlights the concept of Regional Programs and how they can and should play an important role in Save the Children’s future work for children.
Over the last two decades, several SC members have adopted regional program approaches in their development work. A broad range of retional programs with a focus on health, education, child protection, and child rights governance have been implemented in Latin America, The Middle East, Africa, Asia, and Europe.
The experiences of these programs shows that a regional approach in many situations has several clear advantages, leading to greater cost effectiveness, improved impact and outcomes, and provides and effective platform for partnership, learning and scaling up.
Further issues and concerns relating regional programs, such as the ability to address regional and trans-border problems, coordination, and impact are addressed in-depth.
