Despite being one of the wealthiest countries in the world, Britain continues to fail to achieve fairness for all children. While concerted efforts by teachers and governments over many years have resulted in some progress, for many children achievement is still defined by the circumstances they are born into.
Save the Children believes that Britain should set the historic goal of ensuring that every child leaves primary school as a strong reader, as part of a broad education.
