This Alternative Report engages mainly in the analysis of the national legal framework and current social context in Côte d’Ivoire, the application and enforcement of the provisions of the Committee of the Rights the Child (CRC), and the initial report submitted by Côte d’Ivoire in May 1998 to the CRC. The Report strives to ensure the quick implementation of national and international laws to be able to better protect the rights of children within the context of new emerging realities, and provides recommendations on steps to be taken by the government to ensure juvenile delinquents are subjected to educational assistance measures at reception centres, recognising the government as a primary duty-bearer accountable for the children’s access to a rights-based quality education in juvenile justice settings.
