Raising the Standards, Egypt (2011 – 2013)

These two documents are a part of the Raising the Standards initiative that was implemented in two care institutions in Greater Cairo, Egypt. The project aimed at piloting the international care standards to promote better care and protection of children living in care institutions. Save the Children has successfully worked closely with Ministry of Social Affairs to scale up the best practices and lessons learnt of the pilot, which resulted in the development of national care standards. 

“Care Standards Documentation” presents the Egyptian context for children living in care institutions; it describes the need for development of national care standards adapted to an Egyptian context.

The second document, “We Demand Our Dreams!”, is a collection of dreams, thoughts, and fears of children living in care institutions in Egypt.
