Pandemics are unpredictable, yet reoccurring events, that can have severe consequences on health, social and economic well-being. They may cause social and economic disruption, threats to the continuity of essential services and reduced production, but also increased vulnerabilities for children and other groups. While governments and sectors such as health, water and sanitation hygiene (WASH) play a leading and coordinating role, experience has shown that civil society organizations and communities have essential roles to play during pandemics.
This note provides general guidance for the role of the community in relation to the COVID-19 outbreak in Lebanon, with a particular focus on community members who are already mobilized.
