These sample questionnaires can be adapted to conduct behavioral research with teachers, head teachers/school directors, coaches, and district education officers. These questionnaires were originally adapted from questionnaires that Central Square Foundation and Ashoka University developed for use in schools in India (where they were partially focused on determining why teachers weren’t using teachers’ guides and textbooks within a structured pedagogy approach, as intended). They were then adapted for use in Uganda (with support from CUBIC) as part of a human centered-design approach to discovering the challenges in supporting improved teacher practice, but the focus was not on literacy teaching specifically.  These questions may need to be further adapted to be more literacy specific for LB TPD projects or numeracy specific for NB TPD projects.

Note 1: Questionnaires labeled Wakiso were used in a high-resource district, and vary slightly from the tools marked Karamoja, which were used in a very low-resourced district.

Note 2: Comments have been left in these draft questionnaires to give teams a sense of the types of questions and discussions that need to happen to adapt these questionnaires for different contexts. Teams can delete the comments if not relevant to their context/project.
