The role of local humanitarian actors got renewed attention during the World Humanitarian Summit in 2016, which saw international and national non-governmental organizations put localization of humanitarian action on the agenda. Several commitments were made during the summit, and new initiatives were launched to enable increased localization of responses to humanitarian crises.
This document gives an overview of three of these initiatives, namely the Charter for Change, the Grand Bargain and the START Network.
